Mike Deetsch

Mike Deetsch, Senior Director of Learning and Interpretation at the Toledo Museum of Art and the Project Director, has successfully overseen a variety of research projects, including an art museum’s impact on pre-literacy development in preschool children, writing improvement in middle childhood, and teacher engagement at the middle school level.
Deetsch has presented at several local and national conferences, including the National Art Education Association, participated in an exploratory committee for a national art museum education director’s association, Forum for Leadership in Art Museum Education (FLAME), and published articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Deetsch’s responsibilities during the institute include presenting during a presentation on Seeing America, Smarthistory learning resource that supports a public, collections-based curriculum to support the study of US history and social studies.
